LAANDC Never Again Sermon Series
The Los Angeles Area Nuclear Disarmament Coalition (LAANDC) calls upon LA Churches, Mosques, Synagogues, Temples and other Houses of Worship to dedicate Thursday August 5, 2010 through Sunday August 8, 2010 to a thoughtful and powerful multi-faith series of Sermons, Homilies and Discussions on the topic “Never Again!!”. President Obama, in his Prague speech called on America to take the lead for a nuclear weapons free world:
“as a nuclear power -- as the only nuclear power to have used a nuclear weapon, the U.S. has a moral responsibility to act. We cannot succeed in this endeavor alone, but we can lead it, we can start it.”
This most welcome declaration puts the matter squarely in the hands of the religious communities. The Los Angeles Area Nuclear Disarmament Coalition asks that you take up this call.
| More Links Lieutenant Colonel Stanislav Petrov’s quick thinking and sound judgment averted nuclear war in 1983. If this man, pictured on the right, had followed procedure instead of common sense, we would not be here now. And that is not the only example. We came close to nuclear destruction again in 1995 as well. | ![]() |
LET US REMEMBER and say...
NEVER AGAIN!!

Sample Sermons
Here is a sample sermon dated June 2006 from Rabbi Emeritus Steven B. Jacobs of Temple Kol Tikvah in Woodland Hills: On Nuclear Disarmament: a Jewish Perspective.
And here a second sermon, this one from August 6, 2005: 60 Years after Hiroshima: the New Nuclear Danger and What You Can Do About It by Dr. Tom Newman of San Francisco. Dr Newman has also kindly provided a PDF about children’s health and nuclear weapons: Taking a Stand Against Nuclear Proliferation: The Pediatrician’s Role.
Dr. Anthony Manousos, Quaker Peace Activist maintains LA Quaker Blogspot. It is worth a look. Here is his Nuclear Free World talk to the Presbyterians from July 19th 2009. The more of this, the better.
